Stabbing attack thwarted by police in Jerusalem's Old City

Police on Tuesday arrested a 24-year-old Palestinian woman in the Old City’s Muslim Quarter found with a knife in her bag, who confessed to intending on carrying out an attack.
According to Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, the unidentified suspect was observed behaving strangely by Border Police patrolling the area during the mid-morning hours. “Police approached her and immediately asked her for an identification card, and proceeded to question her,” said Rosenfeld.
“Officers then found a knife hidden in her bag. She was immediately arrested and taken to the Old City Police Station for questioning, where she admitted to planning on carrying out a stabbing attack in the Old City either against security officials, or against civilians in and around the area.”
Police operations are continuing in the Old City, as well as throughout Jerusalem, he said.
