Steinitz, Erdogan spoke at White House last month

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke for some 20 minutes last month with National Infrastructures Minister Yuval Steinitz on the sidelines of a nuclear security conference in Washington, according to an i24news report on Tuesday.
The encounter marked the first time Erdogan has had a face-to-face exchange with a senior Israeli official since ties between the countries went into a tailspin following the 2010 Mavi Marmara incident. Steinitz's office did not comment on the encounter which took place at a closed reception for world leaders in the White House.
The exchange, which i24news' Tal Shalev reported lasted for some 20 minutes, came against the background of stepped up efforts between the two countries to reach a reconciliation accord. One of the major hurdles to an accord is Israel's demand that Ankara put an end to Hamas’ infrastructure in Turkey.
