Three killed in car bomb in suburb west of Cairo

At least three people were killed on Tuesday when a car bomb exploded near a police station in Cairo's western suburb of 6th of October City, security sources said, a day after an attack killed Egypt's top public prosecutor.

The sources said there were a number of wounded people.

"We heard an extremely loud blast and there was a big plume of black smoke rising to the sky. We hurried to the scene to find a destroyed vehicle and body parts scattered all around. We were retrieving and covering them with newspapers, but exactly eight minutes later, there was another blast which led to a fire," said resident, Abdelaziz Ahmed Abdel Aziz.

The attack fell on the second anniversary of the start of mass protests that preceded the overthrow of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in July 2013 by the army, then under President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi leadership.
