Trump's State Department science envoy resigns via Twitter

In a letter posted to his Twitter account on Wednesday, President Donald Trump's State Department Science Envoy, Daniel Kammen, quite his post.

Kammen, a professor of energy at the University of California, Berkeley, credited his decision to Trump's response to the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Vriginia this month, and the death of a woman at a counter-protest near the rally. Kammen said the response "enables racism, sexism, and harms our country and planet."

He was the latest of Trump associates to resign from his post following the president's statement. Several business leaders in Trump's advisory councils quit their positions, leading the president to dissolve some of these councils.

Trump's original statement about the rally condemned violence "on many sides" but did not specifically disavow the neo-Nazis or white supremacists present at the rally. While he later condemned these groups, he then walked back the statement, saying that there were ''fine people'' involved who were not members of either group.
