US President Donald Trump said that the US will not pull out of Afghanistan and that "we must seek an enduring outcome,"he said these things on Tuesday at a US military base at Arlington Virginia.

The president said that while his first instinct was to pull out of Afghanistan he devoted time and effort to study the issue and decided that the security threats to the US are "immense."

He said that, as the results of a rapid exit are "not acceptable", the US will perhaps consider a political settlement that includes elements of the Taliban in Afghanistan, however he stated that it is unknown if or when this will happen.

The president chose not to reveal any timetables or numbers of US troops that will be involved in the American effort.
