Unity Day to be celebrated on June 7

Communities across Israel and throughout the world will come together tomorrow (June 7) to mark Unity Day, with events dedicated to highlighting the Jewish and national collective spirit. Unity Day is an initiative born out of the Jerusalem Unity Prize in Memory of Naftali Fraenkel, Gilad Shaer and Eyal Ifrach.
The Prize was developed by Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, Gesher and the families of the three youths kidnapped and murdered in the summer of 2014. Those events produced unprecedented unity and greater understanding between the different segments of Israeli society and across the Diaspora.
Unity Day commemorations are designed to highlight that spirit and encourage positive dialogue. The main Jerusalem event will take place at the First Station beginning at 6 p.m. That event will feature a series of cultural and entertainment events under the theme of national unity and features free entry for the general public.
