Palestinian driver charges through checkpoint injuring 2 border policemen

Two border policemen were injured when a Palestinian driver raced through a checkpoint near the village of Sebestia in the West Bank, Israel Radio reported on Saturday.
According to the report, the officer in charge of the checkpoint fired shots at the wheels of the vehicle as it charged passed, but the driver did not stop.
Shortly after the incident, the car was found abandoned near the village of Burka and security forces were sweeping the area in search of the driver.
The two border policemen who sustained injuries during the occurrence were brought to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The incident comes a day after Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas met with US special envoy to the peace process Martin Indyk in Ramallah.
