"I am happy that Schalit is home, happy for him and for his family," said former prime minister Ehud Olmert, in his first reaction to IDF soldier Gilad Schalit's return from Hamas captivity.Olmert was prime minister when Schalit was captured, and during his term was involved in efforts to secure Gilad's release.RELATED:Peres emotionally moved by meeting with Gilad Schalit"I am not familiar with all the details of the terms of the current deal," Olmert said during an event with a 30-member delegation from the “One Voice” movement. "I know the details from when I was in office. When I know the details in full I will give my opinion.
"I have nothing more to add, but I'm happy as is all of Israel for Gilad and his family on his return home," the former prime minister said.Olmert said in June that Schalit's capture in 2006 was a "traumatic event."He added that the government "did things that we can't talk about" to try to return the captive soldier to Israel.
