MK Hasson: Dichter was Kadima's Trojan horse

Right-wing rebel Schneller calls Dichter's appointment "positive surprise," Likud MK: Kadima is like sinking ship.

Kadima rebels had mixed reactions to the announcement that Avi Dichter had resigned from the party on Tuesday to become Home Front Defense Minister.
MK Yoel Hasson (Kadima), a supporter of former party leader Tzipi Livni who has been involved in attempts to split Kadima from the Left, accused Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu of “yet again crossing the line of political disgustingness and turned into a shady political wheeler-dealer.”
“Dichter was clearly a Trojan horse in Kadima in recent years, constantly harming Livni with only one motive – preparing in advance to join the Likud at any price,” Hasson said. “I have no doubt that Dichter will not contribute anything to this bloated government, and this will be his last political job.”
MK Otniel Schneller, one of the four MKs Kadima leader Shaul Mofaz attempted to force out of the party for working on a split from the Right, called Dichter’s resignation and appointment as minister a “positive surprise.”
“This is a correct appointment of a worthy man, which will add significant security credentials to the government at this important time,” he said.
Meanwhile, Likud MK Danny Danon took the news as a sign of Kadima’s demise.
“Kadima is falling apart, and the end is near for the ‘supermarket’ party,” he said.
Danon compared the party to the Titanic, calling it “a sinking ship abandoned by its passengers,” and predicting that Kadima will not pass the election threshold for the next Knesset and will disappear from the political scene.
