An Israeli citizen who unsuccessfully fought his extradition from Turkey to the United States won't be sent back to Turkey, one of his lawyers announced Sunday.
Lior Atuar, who had been held for several years in the US for drug charges, was to be tried in Turkey for escaping police custody in connection to a different drug case.
By the time he had exhausted his appeals, however, the 15-year statute of limitations had already run out, his lawyer said.
