Israeli singer Imri Ziv will represent Israel in the 2017 Eurovision contest, which takes place May 9-13 in Kiev, Ukraine, with the song “I Feel Alive.”
The song will be heard for the first time in a special broadcast on IBA Channel One on March 9 at 9 p.m. The number was written by Dolev Ram and Ben Hazut, who have written for artists such as Eden Ben-Zaken, Agam Buhbut, Sarit Hadad and Noa Kirel.
The 25-year-old Ziv was named the Israeli representative after winning the finals of the reality TV show Kochav Haba (The Next Star) on February 13. The singer has experience at Eurovision, having been a backing singer for the Israeli entrants Nadav Guedj in 2015 and Hovi Star last year in Stockholm.
To qualify for the Grand Final, Ziv will compete in the semi-final in the Ukrainian capital on May 11.
Israel has won the Eurovision Song Contest three times before, in 1978, 1979 and again in 1998.
