Israeli forces targeted in suspected West Bank car-ramming; suspect shot dead

Car traveled at high speed towards soldiers; second suspect wounded; Army investigating incident.

Security forces fired on a vehicle involved in a suspected ramming attack on them early on Wednesday in a-Ram, adjacent to Ramallah, killing one suspect and wounding a second.
During a raid on an arms production workshop in the area, security personnel were targeted by a vehicle traveling at high speed toward them.
The IDF said the members of the joint IDF-Border Police force felt their lives to be in dangers, and fired on the vehicle.
One suspect in the car was shot dead, and a second sustained gunshot wounds before being evacuated to the hospital.
Security forces arrested a third suspect for questioning.
The suspect who died was said to be 21-year-old Anwar al-Salaimah, reportedly from the Shuafat refugee camp in northeastern Jerusalem. He was married two months ago, according to the Palestinian Quds Net news agency. An investigation into the details of the incident is under way, the army said.
Separately, the IDF and Border Police arrested 13 security suspects in overnight raids across the West Bank. They included a suspected Hamas operative in Shuweika and four suspects in a-Ram. Two others were nabbed in Beit Umar, northwest of Hebron.
Security forces also entered Hebron to arrest a suspect.
On Tuesday, the IDF arrested three suspects armed with hunting rifles near the West Bank settlement Ofra. Overnight between Monday and Tuesday, the army nabbed 17 wanted suspects across the West Bank, and carried out an arms raid in the city of Kalkilya.
Soldiers recovered six firearms, ammunition, a uniform and a stun grenade. Ten suspects were taken into custody.
