Security forces arrest 3 Palestinians on suspicion of fatally injuring Israeli during car theft

Security forces arrested three Palestinians from Akraba, southeast of Nablus, on December 2 on suspicion of involvement in running over and killing an Israeli civilian the previous day.Avraham Ben-Tzion, 63, a farmer from Moshav Nativ Hagdud in the Jordan Valley, was found dead at the Alon junction near the Ma’aleh Ephraim settlement.The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) said on Tuesday that the three suspects left their village on the day of the incident with the intention of stealing a vehicle.The agency named them as Muhammad Bassem Rama, 27, Ashraf Beni Jabar, 26, and Amir Beni Jabar, 24, all of whom have been imprisoned in the past for criminal offenses, including theft, breaking and entering, and illegally entering Israel.The three men drove in a car behind Ben-Zion’s vehicle, collided with him to get him to stop and exit, then sprayed his face with tear gas and made off with his vehicle, the Shin Bet said.Ben-Zion tried to prevent the theft, and the thieves ran over him with the stolen vehicle. He soon died of his injuries.“The three fled with Ben-Zion’s car to the village of Kabalan [12 km. southeast of Nablus], where they sold the car, and returned to their village,” the Shin Bet said.“Following an intelligence effort, we arrested, on the night after the incident, Rama and Ashraf Jabar,” the agency added. “They confessed to being involved in the incident, and incriminated Amir Beni Jabar, who was arrested the following night.”
