Leader of the Opposition Isaac Herzog (Labor), met with King Abdullah of Jordan on Monday morning at his palace in Amman where they discussed the peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

"There is an opportunity now that will not repeat itself to reach a peace deal in the Middle East and it needs to be reached so the current talks do not end in failure," the king said in his meeting with Herzog.

Herzog said in the meeting that Labor and the rest of the political parties that make up the opposition support the need to reach an agreement and not miss the opportunity.

The Labor chief was the first Israeli who met with the king since the incident at the Allenby border crossing earlier this month where a Jordanian judge, Raed Alaa el-Deen Za'eiter was shot and killed by IDF soldiers.

"I express my heartfelt apology over the incident, and I hope that the joint investigation that our nations are conducting will be speedy and will lead to the truth coming out," Herzog told Abdullah.
