Hezbollah mobilizes for expected US attack on Syria

Report: Group has called on all its officers and members to man their positions.

The actors in the region are not sitting still in anticipation of a US-led attack against Syria, but are actively preparing for it.
Hezbollah has mobilized its forces, according to witnesses in Lebanon, AFP reported.
The news agency also quoted the Lebanese Al-Akhbar paper as stating that the organization “called on all its officers and members to man their positions.”
Hezbollah fighters have left their regular positions and checkpoints in southern Beirut, turning off their mobile phones so that they could not be traced, according to the witnesses.
In the meantime, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah met in Beirut with an Iranian delegation on Tuesday headed by Alaeddin Boroujerdi, head of the Iranian parliamentary committee for national security and foreign policy, who arrived in the city on Monday after two days of talks in Syria.
They discussed the latest developments in the region, focusing on Syria and Lebanon, Hezbollah’s Al- Manar TV website reported.
During the meeting, Nasrallah said that the “Zionist lobby” is behind the US “adventurism” in the Middle East, Iran’s Press TV reported.
And despite the dominance of the world’s largest media networks by the Zionists to distort the realities of the Syrian situation, the US threats against the country have failed, he said.
The Future bloc, which opposes Hezbollah, condemned Hezbollah’s increased security and checkpoints as of late and the recent detention of Saudi diplomats, according to a report in the Lebanese Daily Star on Tuesday.
“Hezbollah with such action, along with its increasingly dangerous involvement in the fighting in Syria alongside the Syrian regime against its people, and its contribution to exposing Lebanon and its security to all kinds of danger, continues to drag Lebanon and its citizens to battles and problems with most sisterly Arab states,” the bloc statement said.
