A Lebanese man who was recently arrested on suspicion of spying for Israel visited the Jewish state on several occasions and underwent training by Mossad, the Lebanese daily Al Akhbar reported Tuesday. According to the report, Ali Jarrah arrived in Israel for short periods of time lasting one or two days. He would first fly to another state such as Jordan, Egypt, Turkey and Greece, where he would rendezvous with a Mossad agent and receive an Israeli ID card with which to travel to Israel. There, the paper reported, Jarrah would undergo training on the use of surveillance equipment, and provide his contacts with information he had amassed. The Jerusalem Post could not independently confirm the report. Earlier this month, the Lebanese English-language Daily Star reported that Lebanese authorities were investigating the possibility that Jarrah had been involved in the assassination of Hizbullah terror chief Imad Mughniyeh.
