Clad in black, bearing AK-47's, they gather in a square in order to denounce the United States and Israel, but these are not the rampaging Jihadists of the Islamic State group, rather the armed women of the Houthi insurgency.
In a video translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), members of the crowd rally in the north-western Houthi held al-Jawf province. All are made indistinguishable by their black niqabs as they chant "Our soul and blood we will give to you, oh Yemen" and Russian made assault rifles, some scrawled upon in Arabic, are waved ceremoniously.
Young girls, covered in more colorful garb, join in with their elders who rally "to protest the Zio-Saudi aggression against Yemen."
"We, the women of Yemen, say to America, Saudi Arabia, and Israel: By God, you will never enter our country, even if nobody is left in Yemen but women. "
Yemen has slid into a fractured war since Shi'ite Houthi rebels supported by Iran toppled the Western backed government in Sana'a in September.
A Saudi-led military intervention, backed by a coalition of 10 countries, had since tried to stem the spread of the militia to various sectors of the country.
