Lone soldier Max Steinberg from California killed in action

Steinberg is one of two American nationals volunteering in the IDF to fall in Gaza since the beginning of the operation's ground incursion.

Max Steinberg, a Golani brigade sharpshooter enlisted in the IDF in December 2012. He was originally from Los Angeles, California and was living in Beersheba.

Steinberg was killed in action overnight on Sunday when the Golani Brigade operated extensively in the Gaza Strip.

Even before his death was cleared for publication, friends and family inundated his Facebook wall with appreciative posts honoring his service and mourning his death. “You are our hero, our inspiration, our savior. Thank you for protecting us. May you rest in peace,” a friend eulogized.
