Optica International beat the red hot Phil Stein Sox on Friday 8-5 solidifying their hold on second place and moving closer to the coveted first-round playoff bye.

The Sox jumped out to a 5- 0 lead after just two innings after David Tover singled home Ariel Gilor and brother Alan Tover doubled him home and scored on an RBI single by Chaim Jacobson.

However, OI flame-thrower Danny Gewirtz held the very potent Sox bats scoreless the rest of the way as the OI offense did just enough to secure the win.

Once again the Schwartz brothers were the hitting stars, with Naftali banging out three hits and scoring three runs while Akiva added two hits, including a fourthinning triple to wake up the offense. Josh Wajcman also had three hits and three RBI’s for OI.

Ariel Gilor had three hits for the Sox,who managed only seven hits all game.

“We needed this win in the worst way to keep distance between us and the rest of the teams fighting for the bye.

I’m proud of the way our guys did not give up despite the early hole we were in” said a jubilant OI captain Yoni Schwartz after his team emerged victorious.
