Multiple American military aircraft suffered damage in strikes overnight on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, CBS reporter Jennifer Jacobs said on Wednesday on X/Twitter.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for the attack, according to Jacobs.
One A-10 Thunderbolt, known as the Warthog, was struck and left with a missing wing, while roughly eight F-15s sustained light damage and were placed back into service, she added.
The damage occured despite US air defense systems firing over 30 Patriot missiles during the Iranian barrage, Jacobs reported.
Iran, US forces carry out retaliatory strikes across region
The barrage came after the US attacked five Iranian tankers in the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday.
This, in turn, was a retaliatory action by Iran targeting a US Navy warship operating in the strait.
The IRGC in the preceding two days also claimed to have launched attacks on eight tankers and two warships, and the capture of a US uncrewed submarine at the entrance to the strait.
Later on Wednesday, Iranian state media reported that several areas in Sirik, southern Iran, were hit by projectiles.
