If I put this ballot in the box, what government, policies, and political reality am I helping create?

The demand came following a post shared by Abbas, in which he claimed Arab parties were forced to accept Israel as a Jewish state to avoid being barred from elections, and it was not a choice.

Ra’am Party leader MK Mansour Abbas confirmed that they have discussed with Segalovitz the possibility of his joining the Arab party’s slate ahead of the upcoming elections. 

His goal was to put unattractive candidates out of realistic places on the list – or as low on the list as possible. In many cases Netanyahu was successful, or at least partially successful. 

"We, the Arab citizens of Israel, are a bridge to achieving peace," Ra'am Party head MK Mansour Abbas said at the conference.

In an official statement last week, Ra’am’s chairman Mansour Abbas and Segalovitz said they had met and held a “cordial and positive” discussion about the possibility of Segalovitz joining Ra’am.

Regardless of who is competing in Israel’s upcoming elections, what must remain a top priority is to keep an eye on which politician intends to do what with the power bestowed upon them.

A former Yesh Atid MK is in talks to join an Arab party slate, as Ra’am leader Mansour Abbas confirms positive discussions aimed at making Ra’am a viable coalition partner.

If we want Israel to thrive as Jewish and democratic, we have to take the question of living together with our Arab citizens seriously.

"Recently, several people approached Ra'am following the negotiations with Yoav Segalovitz. A group was formed specifically of former senior officials and others," Muhammad Majadle said.
