UNCHAIN MY HEART
Jesus and Mary Chain, one of the most
volatile and aggressive alternative rock bands of the 1980s and ‘90s, will be in
Tel Aviv for two shows this week. The band, revolving around Scottish brothers
Jim and William Reid, made its mark in the mid-1980s with Psychocandy, a potent
mix of punk, psychedelia and pop that set the framework for the band’s five

THE DESERT BOOM
The In D Negev Festival returns against the spectacular
wilderness scenery of the Negev border at Mitzpe Gvulot, with diverse
performances of the best local indie artists. The festival will host more than
70 performances, such as Daniel Zamir, Lazer Lloyd (pictured) and Noam Rotem.

In a month-long event called The City of Lions, established in
cooperation with the Venice Carnival, the Lion of Zion will host the Lion of
Venice in a series of interactive events – dance, songs, poetry and street
theater – in the enchanting nooks and crannies of Jerusalem’s Old City. Every
Thursday evening for four weeks between 6 and 11, jugglers, dancers, singers and
actors wearing medieval costumes will roam the streets of the Old City and
