Schenfeld’s ‘The Mare’
“Why prance around with your legs up to your ears like a horse?” Rina Schenfeld’s mother demanded of her leggy child. We today know Rina Schenfeld as one of our pioneering dancer choreographers whose work has inspired today’s young giants, and who is still going strong. The Mare, Schenfeld’s tribute to her mother, premieres at Hot Dance on August 20 and 21. Through text, visuals and the objects she has used on stage for more than 30 years, Schenfeld remembers her mother with love and understanding.
