American singer and producer Will.i.am was in Israel over the weekend for the nuptials of Katya Gaydamak, daughter of Russian-born Israeli business mogul Arcadi Gaydamak. On Saturday, the Black Eyed Peas frontman attended Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli's star-studded birthday bash at her parents' home in Hod HaSharon. Will.i.am originally said he came to Israel for "pleasure," rather than business; but reports quickly surfaced that beyond meeting friends and looking at Israeli startups, the singer was slated to perform at 33-year-old Katya's wedding.
It is not known how much the seven-time Grammy winner, who is now a judge on The Voice UK and Australia, was paid for his performance at the wedding – where Katya married French businessman Raphael Kalifa in Jerusalem – but the Black Eyed Peas reportedly charge no less than $500,000 for private events.
In a nod to Jewish tradition, Will.i.am sported a white kippa while rocking the stage at the wedding afterparty.
