Matching the right wine with the right food is not always an easy task. But when that task is being performed by two experts in the field who happen to be happily married, it makes it a lot easier. This is the case at the newly opened Karin's Deli in Tel Aviv.
Karin Berkovitch and Zvika Libovitch are the recently-married couple behind the homely delicatessen on Tchernichovsky Street. Karin, the half of the happy couple responsible for the culinary side of the business, has a wealth of experience in the field. This experience was very apparent during a recent visit to the neighborhood deli.
The shop is stocked with a range of products that can't be found in most regular supermarkets. Karin's knowledge of the products that she stocks is impressive and due to her extensive culinary experience, she is great source for recipe advice for customers.
While food is a major focus, wine also plays an important role in making Karin's Deli and all round experience. With a whole wall of the small and intimate space filled with wines and other specialty alcohols, it's hard not find the right drink for a homemade meal. With an impressive background in wine, husband Zvika helped chose the selection and the happy couple only stock wines that they themselves have tried and tested.
Karin also hand prepares many of the products on offer, including a lot of the fresh salads and dips. Her passion for food comes across when she helps serve her loyal customers and gives them advice about what combinations go best with each other.
By allowing her bubbly and confident personality to shine through, Karin herself adds an extra element to the no frills, homely deli that stocks a range of specialist products from around the world.
