Legendary violinist Itzhak Perlman will be conducting a series of concerts with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO) over the next few weeks, including, on March 21 at Tel Aviv’s Mann Auditorium, a performance of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Woolf for youth. Before the concert, which Perlman will narrate in Hebrew, Boston-based musical educator Judy Spitzberg will hold an interactive song and movement workshop for children based on the story.
But before that, on March 17, Perlman will conduct the IPO, with his daughter, Nava, on piano, in Beethoven’s Triple Concerto for Violin Cello and Piano, and Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2.  Giora Schmidt, Perlman’s protege, will play the violin.
Perlmanwill conduct the IPO several more times, including twice as part of the“Concert in Jeans” series on March 18 and 19. These more informalconcerts take Rachmaninoff off the bill to present a purelyBeethoven-themed evening, with the Triple Concerto and Symphony No. 6.
