Yisrael Medad is vice-chairman of Israel's Media Watch and responsible for Information and Educational Resources at the Menachem Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem. Born in The Bronx, New York, he immigrated to Israel with his wife in 1970, first living in the Jerusalem's Jewish Quarter as Director of the Betar Students' Hostel. In 1981, the Medad family moved to Shiloh in the Benjamin Region. The Medads have five children.

He graduated Chofetz Chaim High School and received his BA from Yeshiva University in Political Science in 1969. He completed his Master's degree at Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 2008 specializing in Civic and Democracy Education. Between 1975-1977, he was Shaliach to the Betar United Kingdom.

From 1981-1992, he served as Parliamentary Aide to MK Geula Cohen and as Advisor for International Affairs to Minister Prof. Yuval Neeman. He has lectured on topics of Zionism and Israel history at various academic institutions.

Together with Harry Hurwitz, Medad edited the Begin-Sadat correspondence published as Peace in the Making (2011). His op-eds have appeared in the International Herald Tribune, the Los Angeles Times and other periodicals.
