Ruth Eglash was recently appointed The Jerusalem Post’s first Social Media Editor and appointed as the newspaper’s Deputy Managing Editor. She is now responsible for expanding the historic newspaper’s reach and influence on social media networks.

At the same time, she continues to write about social welfare issues, covering subjects such as human trafficking, integration of Israel’s new immigrants and the rights of women, minorities and people with disabilities.

Ruth has worked at the Post since 1999 and held a variety of jobs, including Arts & Entertainment Editor from 2001 to 2006.

She grew up in London, England and attended the University of Leeds, where she studied Media Studies and History for her BA. Ruth moved to Israel in 1994 where she first worked for the Jewish Agency for Israel and Young Judea youth movement, and later at Jerusalem Capital Studios. She also spent two years in the US and was Assistant Editor at The Wisconsin Jewish Chronicle.

In May 2010, Ruth became the first co-recipient of the United Nations Alliance of Civilization and the International Center for Journalist’s X-Cultural Reporting Award for her cross-border reporting project with a Jordanian journalist about relations between the neighboring states.
