Kung Fu Maccabees are 'Chanukka Lighting' (watch it here) In ancient Israel lies the home of the Macabbees... In modern Israel on the very same spot is a small town named in their honour- Hashmonaim. A group of children from Hashmo bring the story of Hanukkah to life as modern day Kung Fu and Ballerina Macabbees. On a rainy day in Kislev when Shalom and Matan (the two youngest Kung Fu Maccabees) were home sick from school they wrote their own version of of the Kung Fu Panda song 'Kung Fu Fighting' and changed it to 'Chanukka Lighting' (with a little help from their Mom, Sarah Nadav- for full disclosure, I am their proud momma). The kids invited their friends to come make a movie with them. Our awesome neighbor Dena Lerner decided we should make it into a video and 'Kung Fu Maccabbees: Chanuka Lighting' was born (her daughters are the two light pink ballerinas). All the parents got involved and roped in friends and family to get it this video done (see the credits below for a full list of everyone who made this happen). Special thanks to Robin Greenspan for doing a great job filming the video, Shani Friedlander for amazing editing, and Happening at the Modi''in mall for providing the angry birds. Huge thanks to Jon Nelson from Eden Mi Qedem who did a rock star job singing and mixing the song. He has a band called Eden Mi Quedem and they are available to play at concerts and events throughout Israel (they ROCKED my wedding- best.band.ever.) http://www.edenmiqedem.com/. Lyrics Everybody is Hanuka lighting Our driedle is fast as lightning Antiochus was a little bit frightening It''s the book of Hanu-ka that we're writing Yeah, the Jews they had it rough When they couldn't pray The Greeks they loved their art The Macabees would not be swayed They thought that they would break they thought that it would end But the Macabees said they would fight 'Cause we have got to win Everybody is Hanuka lighting Our dreidel's fast As lightning Although the story Is a little bit frightening It''s the book of Hanuka That we''re writing It's so natural Why is it so hard to see Maybe it''s just because That we need to be free No matter what they say The truth is what we know When someone takes you down You got to be your own hero Everybody is Hanuka lighting Our driedle is fast as lightning Antiochus was a little bit frightening It''s the book of Hanu- ka that we're writing The temple, it was broke and all the little pots of clay With little oil left to start No one knew from day to day When the flame burned on and on They prayed that it would stay And the miracle of Hanuka we celebrate until today Everybody is Hanuka lighting Our driedle is fast as lightning Antiochus was a little bit frightening It''s the book of Hanu-ka that we're writing Cast and Crew The Ninjas- Shalom Nadav Matan Nadav Eitan Green The Ballerinas- Aliza Greenspan Ashira Green Miriam GreenSpan The Greeks- Dina Lieberman Moshe Lieberman Yossi Lieberman Yehudah Lieberman Voice Talent Jon Nelson Writer Sarah Nadav Camera woman Robin Greenspan Editor Shani Friedlander Director Dena Lerner Producers Esti Green Elisheva Lieberman Exceutive producer Sarah Nadav Dena Lerner special thanks to Dave Nadav Shimon Greenspan
