Time to drop the labels and unite together as one

Being Jewish means something else to every person. There’s no objective definition that can be ascribed to each and every individual.
In other words, the truth of the matter is it’s a subjective concept. Some view being Jewish within a religious context. Others view it within an ethnic context. But regardless of how you view it, it is incredibly important that we all come together during these perilous times.
We are facing some very dangerous enemies around the world that are committed to our annihilation as a people.
The only way for us to be able to combat this cancer of anti-Semetism is by banding together. No Jew no matter where they live, should allow their pride in being Jewish to diminish one iota.
Instead, we must all embrace our “Jewishness” and fight for our people. We have an incredible heritage that brings us together.
We have shared values and these don’t just emanate from the Torah.
Culturally as well we have an incredible amount in common.
Whether one is affiliated or not. Whether one belongs to the reform movement or the conservative moment, or the orthodox movement it is time to stop using labels to divide us and to come together.
I’ve always felt that there is way too much division in our community. Divisiveness is never good but especially not among our people.
We must stop discriminating. A Jew is a Jew. As a friend of mine always says, Hitler had one line to the gas chambers. If you were Jewish, you were on that line.
During this time when the level of anti-Semetism is at a level of intensity that hasn’t been witnessed since the 1930’s, it’s time for us to drop the label.
It’s time to unite as Jews and combat every shred of anti-Semetism that exists.
But let’s do it together. Because together as one I am confident we’ll be able to make a difference. A positive and constructive one.
