Eleven suspects aged 19-20 were arrested for attacking a transvestite with pepper spray in south Tel Aviv early Saturday morning. The incident occurred on Shvil Hamifal street.

A spokesperson for the police told The Jerusalem Post that the victim did not suffer any injury and that the suspects told police under interrogation that they did not target the victim because of her gender identification as they did not know that she was a transvestite.

The police spokesperson characterized the incident as a prank rather than an attack adding that the victim under questioning said that she was not attacked. According to the police, the victim said that one of the men, who was sitting in a vehicle at the time, did use spray the pepper spray in her direction.

The suspects, from the town of Yavneh, were released to house arrest by the police for five days. The police spokesperson stressed that the matter was not been referred to the court.
