Britain sends first parliamentary delegation to Iran in five years

UK-Iran relations continue to thaw as Britain sends its first parliamentary delegation to Iran in five years, UK newspaper The Guardian reported.
The four-member parliamentary group led by former foreign secretary Jack Straw arrived in Tehran on Monday after being invited by the Iranian parliament. A reciprocal visit by members of the Iranian parliament to the UK is already in the works.
The group will stay two days in Tehran and is planning brief visits to Isfahan and Shiraz, according to the local media.
The visit comes just one month after UK envoy Ajay Sharma made the first diplomatic trip to Iran since London withdrew all staff from Tehran after the storming of its embassy in 2011.
British Prime Minister David Cameron and new Iranian leader Hassan Rouhani also spoke on the phone in November in the first direct contact between British and Iranian premiers in a decade.
