Burglars run over, injure police officer at checkpoint

A police officer was run over and lightly injured in the north on Tuesday morning, after a group of suspected burglars ran a police checkpoint near the Kadarim junction in the Galilee.
When the four suspects, all residents of Tiberias in their twenties, approached the police checkpoint on Tuesday, the driver punched the gas and they broke through the checkpoint, at which point police opened fire on the vehicle. One of the passengers was shot in the upper body and lightly wounded, and the car came to a halt and all four men were arrested.
Inside the car police said they found jewelry they believe to be stolen. They added that the checkpoint was set up following a spree of burglaries in the Safed and Hatzor areas nearby.
