EU's Ashton to Iran's new FM: Restart nuclear talks

EU foreign policy chief Catherin Ashton called for talks on Iran's nuclear program to resume during a phone conversation Saturday with the new Iranian foreign minister, AFP reported.
Ashton phoned Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and reiterated her commitment to developing a "diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue," AFP cited a statement from the top EU diplomat as saying.
According to the statement, Ashton vowed that the P5+1 powers - Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States - "were ready to work with the new Iranian negotiating team as soon as they were appointed."
