Former London mayor Ken Livingstone suspended from UK Labour party after Hitler comments

The former mayor of London has been suspended for another year from the UK Labour party after making controversial comments about Adolf Hitler and Zionism last year, the BBC reported Tuesday.

Ken Livingstone, who served as the mayor of London from 2000 to 2008, was handed down the decision following the conclusion of deliberations by disciplinary panel who found that the former politician had been in breach of Labour party rules.

Livingstone had initially been suspended in April 2016 over comments he made during a BBC Radio interview, in which he stated that Hitler supported Zionism in 1930's.

“Let’s remember when Hitler won his election in 1932 his policy then was that Jews should be moved to Israel. He was supporting Zionism,” Livingstone said during the broadcast.
