Former president Shimon Peres in serious but stable condition week after stroke

Former President Shimon Peres Thursday is in serious but stable condition with some respiratory improvement after suffering a sever stroke last week.
Peres, 93, was rushed to the emergency room at Tel Hashomer on September 13 just hours after a hospital visit earlier in the day.
Ayelet Frish, the former president’s communications consultant, said that Peres “woke up...at his home with palpitations and a feeling of constriction in his chest.”
It was learned later that he suffered from a hemorrhagic stroke, which occurs when a weakened blood vessel ruptures (usually caused by uncontrolled hypertension).
