A 15-year-old boy drowned Wednesday while swimming in the Zvitan Stream in the Golan Heights.

The boy was out with his family when he went swimming. He disappeared into the stream, emerging a short time later from the water unconscious. Paramedics rushed to the scene, practicing life support on site, and then flying the teenager out by helicopter to the nearest hospital.

A few hours later, doctors at the hospital pronounced him dead.
