The Health Ministry will recognize the foreign certifications of new immigrants who are physical or speech therapists, according to a bill approved by the Knesset in its preliminary reading Wednesday.

The legislation by MK Shimon Ohayon (Likud Beytenu) is meant to help new immigrants who have many years of experience in their profession but could not work when they arrived in Israel.

Ohayon expressed hope that the bill will encourage more people to move to Israel.
