Haredi draft: High court interim order blocks funding for some yeshivas

A High Court of Justice interim order issued Tuesday instructed the state to stop sending funds to certain yeshivas whose students received a draft notice and did not show up to enlist. The interim order will be in effect until March 2014, and relates to 608 yeshiva students who received draft deferrals.

The yeshivas had been acting on the orders of Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon who deferred the students draft orders pending the drafting of legislation on the matter.

The court suggested that Ya'alon did not have the authority to defer the draft dates.
