Hirsch: Campaign of lies against me cause harm to my good name

August 31, 2015 11:37

Gal Hirsch, the former IDF brigadier-general, recently appointed to head the Israel Police, released a statement on Monday saying he was preparing for his appearance before the Turkel Commitee which oversees appointments of senior civil-service officials.

The Turkel Committee is set to convene on Tuesday to begin the vetting process.

The vetting process and the Justice Ministry probe are to focus largely on a corruption case to which Hirsch’s security firm may be linked, as well as his conduct as a division leader during the Second Lebanon War in 2006.

Hirsh wrote on Facebook that the campaign of lies about him and leaks to the media cause harm to his good name and upset him.

"I have expressed that I am ready to take on the mission and I come from a place of respect and love for the the people who serve in the police and with the knowledge of the great importance of the organization and its mission," Hirsch wrote.
