Palestinian prisoner Samer Issawi was released from Shita Prison on Monday. Issawi was infamous for his prolonged hunger strike in protest of his incarceration for violating the terms of his parole for a prior arrest.

After a hunger strike lasting 266 days, Issawi reached an agreement with Israeli authorities in April, agreeing to end the strike and serve a further eight months, totaling a sentence of 17 months.
