Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman announced Monday afternoon in a live broadcast that the Likud-Beytenu faction was splitting up due to irreconcilable ideological differences.

The announcement was widely expected following a tete-a-tete between Liberman and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu at Sunday's cabinet meeting.
