Liberman meets Italian FM, says unilateral recognition of 'Palestine' hurts peace prospects

Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman met with his Italian counterpart Federica Mogherini on Wednesday to discuss the latest developments in the region.
Liberman warned the Italian foreign minister, who is set to replace Catherine Ashton as the EU foreign affairs chief, of the dangers posed to the continent by Europeans who volunteered to fight alongside Islamic State in Syria returning home and spreading terror.
Liberman also addressed the recent moves made in Europe toward recognizing a Palestinian state, saying that direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians are the only path to resolving the conflict.
"External political decisions and unilateral recognition outside of the framework of negotiations will only serve to sabotage achieving a solution," he said.
