Ministers reject 'State of the Nation bill'

The prime minister will not be required to give an annual State of the Nation speech, as the Ministerial Committee for Legislation rejected a bill to that effect by MK Hilik Bar (Labor) Sunday.
The proposal, co-sponsored by MK Orly Levy-Abecassis (Yisrael Beytenu), would require the prime minister to give a speech reviewing what he did that year in different areas and his goals for the coming year.
The bill was an attempt to fix what the lawmakers saw as a disconnect between the government and the people and increase the public's trust in government.
