Mayor of Netanya Miriam Feirberg-Ikar announced on Sunday that she would recommend that her city name a bridge after the later former prime minister Ariel Sharon who passed away on Saturday.

The bridge that may bear Sharon's name connects the neighborhood of Kiryat Hasharon to the new municipal stadium and is currently under construction.

"Netanya was close to Sharon's heart and he stood by it and strengthened us during the period of difficult terrorist attacks that we experienced," Feirberg-Ikar said on Sunday.
