Peres presents award to General Staff Reconnaissance Unit for past year's life-risking missions

President Shimon Peres awarded the General Staff Reconnaissance Unit with an award of recognition on Tuesday and thanked the soldiers on behalf of the entire nation for the successful completion of a series of difficult operations in the past year.
According to the IDF Spokesman's Unit, the operations were ones that contributed greatly to national security and in which the unit's soldiers risked their lives.
Peres was joined by IDF chief of staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz, Minister of Defense Moshe Ya'alon and IDF head of intelligence, Maj-Gen. Aviv Kochavi.
During the visit, the president was shown the unit's latest activities, its capabilities, as well as its weapons, some of the most advanced in the world. Afterward, Peres met personally with the soldiers and discussed the security threats that facing Israel.
