Police arrest 9 suspected of extortion in J'lem market raid

Jerusalem police and detectives from the Tax Authority arrested nine people in the Ramle/Lod market next to the Malha train station in Jerusalem on Monday during a raid.

Police raided the market over suspicions of tax evasion and money laundering as well as extortion and blackmail of stall owners to force them to pay protection money.

Police arrested the nine suspects, including three brothers, and seized computers and other equipment during searches of their apartments. Additional arrests are expected.
