Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein announced Sunday that the presidential elections will go ahead as planned on Tuesday.

After closed talks with the legal advisor to the Knesset and other officials, he said that "you cannot deny that in the current climate, the elections will be void of any dimension of celebration or respect."

He said he decided to leave the election date as it is, for fear of further irregularities.
