Report: Gaza's lone power plant resumes operation

The sole power station in the Gaza Strip received a long-awaited fuel delivery and began to gradually resume operations Sunday following more than seven weeks of inactivity, AFP cited the coastal enclave's electricity company as saying.
The Palestinian Authority government in the West Bank purchased the fuel delivery from Israel with funds provided by Qatar, according to AFP.
"The first generator has started working, the second one will follow, and by this evening, the company should be able to generate around 60 megawatts of electricity," AFP quoted spokesman Jamal Dirsawi as saying.
"This will give the Gaza Electricity Distribution Company (GEDCO) an opportunity to provide more hours of electricity to citizens."
The plant closed its shut it generators on November 1 due to a diesel shortage.
