Report: Iran's Rouhani appoints female VP in new cabinet

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani appointed Elham Aminzadeh as his Vice-President for Legal Affairs, Fars News, which claims to be independent but which is widely known to have close ties to Iran's Revolutionary Guards, reported on Monday.
According to Fars, the president said that Aminzadeh's scientific competence and judicial qualifications as well as legislative experience and moral merits were the reasons for her appointment.
Rouhani took the oath of office before parliament in Tehran at the beginning of August, and named a cabinet later that day that he said were chosen from figures across the political spectrum.
